March's Newsletter

Back and Busier Than Ever

Hello and welcome back to what is the new and improved monthly-ish newsletter! I say new and improved because if you have been hanging around the Nest lately, you may have noticed things look a little different. Probably the most obvious (if you follow me on IG) would be my handle change from @theculinarynest to @chefmegangregory. This change has come at a really pivotal moment in my career and is a reflection of both what I have done and what I continue to strive towards. In addition to the new handle, you may have also noticed a new brand reoccurring on the feed, Skinny Butcher. However this is no ordinary partnership, this is the start of my new role as Chief Brand Ambassador. Yes, you read that right! And not only does this exciting opportunity come with a new recipe creation and product inspo, but alongside that role I have also been named as the Spokesperson for the company which also means a revolving door of media appearances. In February alone, we hit ABC12, Fox 2, and Woodward Sports news features (hello?!).

With all the travel that has been my wild ride of life lately, I thought what better recipe to share than a classic curl-up on your couch with a blanket and your favorite Netflix show (right now mine’s Ted Lasso) kind of dish like soup. Specifically, my Roasted Cream of Mushroom Soup that you can find pictured below. This warm bowl of heaven is the perfect side or main dish to keep the last little chills of the winter season at bay while we welcome Spring with open arms.

However, if you have been as booked and busy as I have this month, and you need a little treat to break up the rush, then I would suggest my restaurant of the month, Basan. This experience of an establishment specializes in Asian fusion and is tucked into the ground floor of the historic Eddystone. You can watch my full reel review on Instagram here, but I would highly recommend taking a peak at their menu or simply calling in to make your reservation for this lovely Friday night.

I have been nominated as one of three Women of Impact representing Detroit in a national campaign for the Heart Association of America. It is an absolute honor to represent and fundraise for the cause. One out of three humans is affected or taken by heart disease (claiming more lives than all cancers combined!) so it is SO important for us to be a part of that change NOW for our future generations.

My family has been personally impacted by various forms of heart disease, including myself with Mitral Valve Prolapse, heart stents for my grandfather, and the loss of my great grandma. We can help protect and prolong the lives of our loved ones if we stand together.

No amount of a donation is too big or too small when it comes to helping this cause. Please donate here, let’s create a stronger heartbeat together.

Well, that is all for this month but you better believe we will be back in just a few short weeks with more food, real talk, and whatever else comes up on this wild ride called life.
